About this mat

The classic heavy coir mat.

The pile is woven through a coir-yarn backing on a handloom, so there is no vinyl or rubber layer. Water drains through and the mat dries from both sides.

The rope-bound edge and deep pile of the 2 inch mat — **Bound by hand**A rope edge all the way round, so the pile cannot fray out of the weave.

The mat rolled back to show its woven coir backing — **Coir through and through**The back is woven coir yarn. It drains, breathes and holds no water.

Care

Shake it out, brush it, or vacuum it. If it gets soaked, lift it and let it dry flat. Do not machine wash.

Good to know

It sheds at first. New coir loses loose fiber for the first few weeks. Shake it out or vacuum it; it settles.
Keep it under cover. In standing water or full sun coir darkens and wears sooner.
It can shift on smooth floors. A woven back has no non-slip layer. On polished tile, choose vinyl-backed.
Wet coir can mark pale stone. Lift it to dry after heavy rain blows in.
